Personality and Abilities

The twins are an odd pair to be sure. Most people would say that they're a single mind split between two bodies. Those people would be pretty much right about them. But they don't see themselves as such. They see themselves as a pair who knows each other inside and out. They never disagree and share the same likes to be sure, but some of the traits they share are more prominent in one than the other. This and their ability to work independently of each other is proof enough for them that they are individuals. The fact that they finish each other's sentences and speak is unison as easily as though they had rehearsed the same script is an obvious point to their shared mind though.
Of the two, Sable is the first to speak normally and is also often the first to act. He is less immediately friendly and more protective of those that they hold dear. He'll be the first to want to look into or confront whatever is causing friends and family distress, with Colgate close behind him. Colgate usually acts second and somewhat prefers to express himself physically and in a friendlier manner unless given a reason to be standoffish. His brother isn't unfriendly by any means, but this is an area where Colgate will take the lead nearly all the time.
As guards, the safety of those they care about comes first. They don't really enjoy violence and tend to lean toward the element of surprise and intimidation, but if a fight happens they're plenty capable. Their shared mind let's they work very well off of each other and their coordination can be used to aid their allies as well. They don't really have the ruthlessness to kill without being pushed far beyond their restraint though, so it's not that likely that a fight with them will result in death.
When not on-duty as guards of their home, the twins enjoy engaging in games and hanging around those they're close to. Neither is against the idea of more intellectual activities but they'd rather be with others than doing them, especially if they require more quiet and focus. Watching someone else enjoy such hobbies and interacting with them about their interest is also more appealing than doing in this case. Brainy pursuits are for those more intelligent than them, at least in their opinion.
They're particularly fond of physical pursuits such as learning sports and roughhousing with anyone who can take it. But, as they're big softies, they wouldn't try to pressure someone into rough activities and would feel bad if anyone got hurt on their watch. Nothing is enjoyable when you know someone has been hurt and is unhappy after all.
Unlike a number of their many siblings, the twins only have a passing curiosity about the world beyond their little island. They wouldn't be against venturing out to see the world, but travelling far from home and family or friends is fairly low on their list of priorities. Their loyalty to family far outweighs any need to broaden their horizons and they would likely be among the first to return home if they did leave. They wouldn't mind a souvenir from someone who did want to leave though, especially if that souvenir happened to be rock candy.
Speaking of rock candy, Both twins have quite the sweet tooth. If they pass up on sugar, especially the aforementioned rock candy, then you can bet that something is very wrong. They're equally fond of fruits and have large appetites, but much like enjoying their downtime food is best had in good company. If it smells good or they know it's good, they'll eat it without hesitation. If someone they like is making something and needs a taster, they'll be the first to volunteer even if it seems dubious.But if you missed a meal or just still hungry, they'll share what they have.
